Chief Executive Officer
Jon Bates is Chief Executive Officer at Avalon, providing leadership over all service lines, and focusing on long-term goals, growth, and profitability. Jon has worked for large companies as well as startups, bringing his knowledge and experience from both worlds to his role at Avalon. Every day, he works with the leadership team to continue Avalon’s growth trajectory, whether through developing sales and operations strategies or evaluating potential acquisitions to enhance our service lines and, ultimately, support our clients. What Jon appreciates most about Avalon is that our team is driven, engaged, and willing to learn and adapt to new things, every day.

Anthony Quartaro
Chief Financial Officer
Anthony Quartaro is Avalon’s Chief Financial Officer. With over 17 years of experience in finance and accounting and a strong background in both private and public accounting, he plays a key role in driving our financial strategy and operational growth. Before joining Avalon, Anthony spent 12 years at Sutherland, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s financial operations. He drove key initiatives in technology investments aimed at improving operational growth and financial insights and consistently delivered strong ROI by aligning the company’s financial strategy with its overall business objectives. His deep experience in commercial banking, debt refinancing, private equity, and enterprise resource planning implementations supports our commitment to enhancing financial performance.

Lew Airth
Executive Vice President of Operations
Lew Airth, Executive Vice President of Operations, joined Avalon in 2008 as the Director of Graphics. Through dedicated effort and hard work, in 2010, he became the Vice President of Production where he was instrumental in the restructuring of the production team. He continued to rise through the ranks to his current position on the senior leadership team. Lew is analytical in his approach to leading our operations to high quality and on time delivery.

Katie Martoche
Chief of Staff
Katie Martoche is the Chief of Staff for Avalon, coordinating strategic initiatives that ensure alignment across the organization. Katie’s focus is on connecting people, ideas, and resources while helping the CEO focus on strategic priorities. Since joining Team Avalon in 2021 Katie has provided high-level administrative support to the senior leadership team as the Executive Assistant, Integration Manager, and now Chief of Staff. Prior to joining Avalon, Katie was an experienced leader in the higher education industry serving in roles in both academic and student affairs, most recently as a Title IX Coordinator, Director of Career Development, and interim Dean of Students.

Michael Higgins
President, Tower Legal Solutions
Michael Higgins, President of Tower Legal Solutions, a division of Avalon, leads our managed review and legal staffing services. He has more than 25 years of leadership experience in legal staffing and project management and has successfully developed and maintained an extensive client base by providing five-star service to major law firms and legal departments in both the managed review and staff augmentation spaces. He specializes in providing a consultative approach, resulting in exceptional client service, improved workflow, and enhanced efficiency.

Jason Schroeder
Vice President of Professional Technical Operations
Jason Schroeder is Vice President of Professional Technical Operations and brings 20+ years of experience in litigation support and document-related technologies to our team. While he began his career running printing presses for United Media comics, he soon moved into a law firm where he launched their internal scanning/imaging department. Later in his career, he moved back to the vendor side, where his background in technology helped him transform a traditional printing company into one that offered additional litigation support services like scanning and eDiscovery.
